Day 161 & 162

Weigh in day, and I lost 2.2 pounds, with 11.4 to go.  We're getting close to the single digits, here, people! Also, Queen Beatrix announced that she's abdicating (that's just how the Dutch roll--I bet Prince Charles is jealous).  So we'll miss her and her crazy ass hats. BUT!  That means that means that Princess Maxima will be Queen, and she loves to wear ALL the tiaras!!! But you came here for the food, and not the tiaras (or did you?!). Monday breakfast was four sausage balls and two glasses of water. Total: 3 points Lunch was a salad with tomatoes and olive oil, a vanilla greek yogurt, a banana, two tablespoons of chocolate chips, and two glasses of water.  Snack was a tangerine.   Total: 6 points Dinner was skinny mushroom stroganoff , bread, olive oil, a glass of water, and a glass of milk.   Total: 14 Mmmm....shrooms. Day 160

Total: 0 points Exercise was 15 minutes of wii fit yoga, then 20 minutes of some seriously intense EA Active 2.  (By seriously intense, I mean heart rate of 165.)   So, as promised, let's discuss what's in my home gym. 1) A wii with wii fit and EA Active 2 - My friends The Canadians recommended this, and as we know, Canadians are never wrong.  (Okay, really only one of them is Canadian, but still.)  I generally need to be entertained/distracted while I exercise, and EA Active and wii fit do a pretty good job of it. 2) Resistance bands - I have started using these more with physical therapy, but I like 'em because I can use them while watching House Hunters  or Love It ...

Day 159

Yesterday was free lunch and free dinner (thanks, parents!), a nap, exercise, and watching tv.  Yay! Late breakfast was with Chris' dad at Eggspectation .  I had a hard boiled egg, two slices of Canadian bacon, a cup of potatoes, a cup of tomatoes, a half slice of wheat toast, a teaspoon of jelly, a few bites of fruit, and two glasses of water.   Total: 11 points Today's fine art in blogging is by Mary Maxam , who paints Northwest landscapes, florals, as figures. Exercise was 15 minutes of wii fit yoga, then 20 minutes of EA Active 2, and three glasses of water. I totally look like this.  (In that I have the same shoes and pony tail.) Early dinner was with my mom and dad at Rangoli .  I had a few bites of chicken 65 (think Indian chicken nuggets) then my usual channa masala, white rice, raita, and roti.  I also had a glass of wine and three glasses of water.  And then we finished it off with delicious homemade vanilla mango ice cream. ...

Day 158

Breakfast was 6 ounces of vanilla yogurt mixed with a banana and two tablespoons of chocolate chips, plus two glasses of water.  I confess that I left my yogurt at home, so I took a yogurt from the work fridge that I'm 99% sure was left over from a team breakfast.  If I stole your yogurt at work, I apologize.   Total: 5 points Lunch was a cup of Brunswick Stew and two glasses of water.   Total: 5 points Dinner was a cup and a half of Skinnytaste's Mushroom Stroganoff (made with beef broth), and a glass of milk.  Dessert was half an apple and a quarter cup of moose munch.   Total: 9 points Snack was four whole grain crackers and two little pieces of cheese, then a salad with tomatoes roasted in olive oil, and finally a cookie. Day 157

Breakfast was five sausage balls , half of a giant apple, and two glasses of water.   Total: 4 points I thought the blog could  use some fine art.  This painting is by Debbie Miller , a nice lady from the internet whose work comes up in a google search for apples. Peel and slice one giant russet potato into strips. Immerse the strips in a bowl of water (it removes some of the starch and helps make 'em crispy. Dry the potatoes. Add in two teaspoons of olive or canola oil, sal...

Day 155

Weigh in day and I lost 1.2 pounds, with 13.6 to go! "I'm so proud!" Before we get to yesterday's eating excitement, a couple of my fabulous readers have asked where I get my recipes.  I have listed my favorite (and not-so-favorite) sites below. Skinnytaste - www.skinnytaste.com Spinach Lasagna Rolls -good for freezing.  Use canned sauce if you're in a hurry.  Be sure to salt/pepper the cheese mixture well. Corn Salsa with Lime -great as a salsa (duh) and really good as a topping for chicken or fish. Pumpkin Cupcakes -without the frosting, they're muffins!  And they're delicious! Tasty! Emily Bites - www.emilybites.com 15 Minute Stacked Tostadas -So good and easy!  I made them twice this week. Mac & Cheese Muffins -They freeze really well and are good portion control. Muffiny! Eating Well - www.eatingwell.com Easy Fiesta Beans -I don't even bake them or use the cheese and they're delicious Tabbouleh -for the Lebanese ...

Day 154

Breakfast was half an apple and two tablespoons of  pb yogurt dip .  Plus two glasses of water.   Total: 2 points Lunch was two skinny  tostadas (note: spell check thinks I'm trying to write asbestos, but I assure you I am not), four tootsie rolls, and three glasses of water.  Also, I'm counting the avocado as a healthy oil, since it's a healthy fat.   Total: 8 points Not for lunch: asbestos. Snack was a vanilla Greek yogurt with a cup of strawberries and another glass of water.   Total: 3 points I ate this, but John Stamos did not appear.  Bummer. Dinner was a bowl of my version of Chowning's Brunswick Stew ( throw 4 cups chicken broth, a shredded chicken breast, a can of diced tomatoes, a half tablespoon of sugar, teaspoon of salt, half teaspoon of pepper plus potatoes, onions, corn and lima beans in a pot and simmer for 20ish minutes ) and a cornbread muffin with a teaspoon of olive oil.  And a glass of water.  ...

After that I did 25 minutes of physical therapy/resistance exercises, which I followed up with a glass of milk (for me) and a frozen bag of peas (for my glutes).  Then I tried a new recipe for a yogurts and peanut butter dip, and had it with a half apple and a half banana.  Chris did not like it.  I LOVED it.  More for me.  Total: 4 points One 5.3 ounce container of vanilla Greek yogurt, 2 tablespoons PB, a half tablespoon honey, an eighth teaspoon of cinnamon.  Recipe here .  But I just told you the recipe!
