Day 138

Breakfast was Advil and a glass of water.  And a bag of peas, but those were for my muscle.   Total: 0 points And then it was on to R-I-C-E, which stands for Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation.  I'm down with the Compression and Elevation.  I can handle the Ice even though I don't really like it. I'm not having fun with the Rest. Lunch was a piece of bread, two teaspoons of olive oil, and four spinach and cheese raviolis with a half cup of sauteed spinach.  And three glasses of unsweetened tea.   Total: 12 points Snacky time was a tangerine, a banana, and my very first (and very last) taste of almond butter. Anyone want a $7 jar of almond butter missing 1 tablespoon?  Anyway, I had a half tablespoon of peanut butter instead, and a glass of water.   Total: 1 point No thanks. Then I exercised, by doing a 15 minute customized strength routine on EA Active 2 that only engaged my upper body and my core.  Then I did 25 minutes of yin yoga, again focusing onl

Day 137

A lot of you (okay, like four of you) have asked me how I drink so much water/healthy beverages.  So here are my secrets: I  buy bottled water (on sale!).  I resisted this for a long time because of the plastic involved, but I wasn't doing so hot with the Brita pitcher, and I promise that I recycle all of my bottles.   It helps me know how much water I have had  (1 bottle = 2 glasses). At work, I  use a cup with a built in straw .  Straws make it easier and more mindless to drink more water.  You know, because then you don't have to tilt your head back, since THAT's so difficult... I've trained myself to  drink water every time I'm at a stop light .  It's like a really lame drinking game!  And since I drive on Route 50 to and from work, that's not hard to do. I  switched from sweet to unsweetened tea .  I used to drink a lot of sweet iced tea, and it's still my favorite special treat beverage.  I read an article positing that if you switch to unswee

Day 136

I did my EA Active 2 last night and my calves HURT.  Like majorly hurt.  I can't even do my usual "my calves hurt" stretches like downward dog or toe touches.  Any advice, my people? No, not this type of calves.  These guys are cute. ANYWAY, breakfast was a delicious glass of water!  I slept in because Chris woke up at 4 a.m. and was not feeling well. :(   Total: 0 points Then I made an entertaining lunch for Chris: two grilled cheese sammiches and dinosaur chicken nuggets.  (Dinosaur chicken nuggets are scientifically proven to make you feel better.)   Lunch for me was a bowl of   Brunswick Stew and 10 whole grain crackers, along with four glasses of water.  I halve the recipe, use just 3 ounces of rotisserie chicken, use fat free chicken broth instead of water, and omit the okra.  And voila--delicious proteiny and vegetabley soup in 20 minutes.  Also four glasses of water.   Total: 7 points Dinner was 2 ounces of the previously mentioned rotisserie chicken,

Day 135

Breakfast was a tangerine and a glass of water while watching the snow.  Yay!   Total: 0 points I draw smiley faces on them before I eat them.  Okay, I don't. Lunch was a Chicken and White Bean Enchilada with Creamy Salsa Verde  and two glasses of water.  And four tootsie rolls for dessert.   Total: 6 points Early dinner was four pieces of spicy tuna with avocado and brown rice sushi, a cup of mushroom soup, and a salad with ginger dressing on the side from Moca .  Also three glasses of water.   Total: 6 points Mmmmm, warm. Snack time was a half cup of moose munch (a bargain at 4 points!) and a chocolate covered cherry.  Can you tell we got a tower of treats from Harry & David ?   Total: 5 points It's a tower!  Of treats! Second dinner (which I'm assuming is a lot like second breakfast, for any Hobbits reading) was a salad with some tomatoes I roasted in olive oil, 3/4 of an ounce of cheese, a cup of milk, and a glass of water.   Total: 6 points

My favorite Kate outfits!

And what did I eat at Christmas?  What DIDN'T I eat? Truth. Anyway, I hope you all had a Happy Christmas (as the Brits would say).  My gift to you is a rundown of my favorite Kate outfits. She recycled this one for Wimbledon.  So appropriate!    Oh Canada!  I want this hat. I want this hat, and this coat, and those shoes.  Also, I really like Wills' uniform. Someone buy me this super cute trench coat!  I love the ruffle at the bottom. This was back in her K-Middy days.  She looks so cute! I wish I could look this stylish on a daily basis.    This was her day after the wedding outfit.  Love it.  Want the shoes. A lot of people don't like this red dress, but I think she looks pretty and comfortable, not to mention happy. :) This Alexander McQueen coat reminds me of her wedding dress.  Lovely. This was one of everyone's favorites, and I like it too. She wore this dress to the War Horse premiere and to St. Andrews.  It'

Day 134

Breakfast was a tangerine and a glass of skim milk.   Total: 2 points First, I put all of my citrus in a crate.  And then I put my milk in a fancy pitcher. Lunch was a failure.  I was all excited that Glory Days added grilled boneless wings to their menu, so I got some to eat during the game, and Chris got the regular boneless wings.  Too bad the grilled "wings" were just rubbery lumps of chicken.  Blech!  So I wasted a point on that.  Thanks but no thanks, Glory Days.   Total: 1 point So I had some leftover channa masala, rice, and a cup of tomatoes with a teaspoon of lemon olive oil.  I also had three glasses of water and a piece of Chris' peanut brittle.   Total: 6 points I feel like I'm running low on stock channa masala images. Dinner was popcorn shrimp, a baked potato with fat free sour cream & bacon bits, and a slice of wheat bread.  Plus two more glasses of water and four tootsie rolls.  Total: 20 points And then I did yoga and cardio eve

Day 133

Breakfast was sleeping.  Uuugh.  Go away, anemia. Lunch was a half cup of easy fiesta beans made with reduced fat cheese, a cup of skim milk, a salad with a teaspoon of olive oil, and two glasses of water.   Total: 6 points Easy!  And fiesta-y! Exercise was a half hour of wii fit cardio and yoga. I hate you, Heather.  I hate you and your stupid "center of balance" yellow circle. Dinner was a celebration of Kiki's birthday and of all of us surviving 2012 (sorry, Mayans).  Kiki not only had to deal with the impending apocalypse, but she kicked cancer's ass all over the place this year.  And I have to say, she did it with style, grace, and wit.  I'm in awe of how positive she was, that she refused to have a pity party for herself, and that she kept a "business as usual" attitude.  A very, very happy birthday to you, my friend! And many moooooooooooore! Kiki's husband Rob was in charge of watching me.  And since Rob is a big dude that

Day 132

Breakfast was a tangerine, a cup of water, and some systems configuration.  Thrilling, I know.   Total: 0 points Lunch was with coworkers Kathy and Jason, and Jason's three year old Ben.  We discussed important topics like penguins, puppet shows, and macaroni & cheese.   And then the nurse said to the duck "don't fill up on bread!" We ate at Logan's, and I seriously wanted to eat all the rolls, then order a swimming pool sized sweet tea, and a vat of potato soup.  But instead I had a baked potato with sour cream, and a salad with a suggestion of dressing, as well as a cup of iced (unsweetened) tea.  Dessert was 12 chocolate chips and a glass of water.   Total: 7 points "Hi, I'd like about four pitchers of sweet tea, please." Before heading off to Christmas with Chris' dad, I was starving.  I passed over the ham sammich and instead had five whole grain crackers and a glass of milk.   Total: 3 points During dinner, I once agai
