April 20th - 22nd 2018

I feel like my 13 Days of Healthy Eating & Exercising has turned in to "look how small your appetite is on Sudafed" but I committed to it, so here's what I ate: Friday Breakfast: Sleeping. Lunch: 8 Chick-fil-a nuggets & a fruit cup Dinner: mashed potatoes & applesauce Exercise: tried not to die Saturday - Happy 92nd Birthday Queen Elizabeth! Breakfast: Pumpernickel toast with light butter Lunch: A 100 calorie Greek yogurt ice cream that Chris said I'd like.  (It was okay.) Dinner: Chili with crackers & tortilla chips, 2 Grapefruit Shandys, and a little bit of Banana Cream Supreme because we had friends over. Exercise: None, but I did cross-stitch this for a friend! Sunday Breakfast: More sleeping. Lunch: Chipotle-style Indian Bowl (chickpeas, brown rice, tomatoes, red onion, cucumber, cilantro, raita).  Soooo good.  Seriously, how is this not a restaurant everywhere?  This place is awesome.  It's just a ran

April 18th & 19th

Yesterday and today were tough for so many of you.  It was a 2-day news cycle of ick.  Several of you wrote or texted about awful stuff that happened with your loved ones today.  One of you is a Southwest flight attendant (more on that later).  My super hard-working, dedicated, smart and funny sister went out on an (introverted) limb and ran for a position on the local Education Association Board...and lost, and perhaps due to people not completing ballots correctly.  Oh, and as she notes, the other day was Tax Day as well. 😝 We paid off Chris' car last month, and this apparently dropped our credit scores 30 points, because we no longer have a "good mix of accounts."  Credit Sesame recommends getting a car, education, or other loan to remedy this.  Yeah, HARD PASS.  (I mean, our credit is still in the high 700s, so this  truly a First World Problem.) At any rate, I'm summoning our Patron Saint of Horribleness, here she is: The Duchess of Cornwall, everyone, Camil

First, Barbara Bush passed away tonight. What a gift she gave us all!  It's refreshing for someone to be so candid about her end-of-life choices and talk about what isn't talked about: deciding on comfort or palliative care. She had a bourbon Monday, and went gentle in to that good night Tuesday.  No wonder her Secret Service code name was Tranquility. In case you missed it, in 2016 her granddaughter Jenna dressed as her for Halloween, then called her grandma on air. To which Barbara joked "I heard [Jenna] was going to dress up like a witch, so I did too." HA! Second, a shout out to all my fellow allergy sufferers because the hills are ALIVE, you guys. The good thing about allergies (or colds or whatever) is that Sudafed makes you not hungry! Breakfast: Pumpernickel toast with cream cheese and lox.  And two cats that stalked me (see: lox). Lunch: Leftover pasta from last night and an apple. Snack: Saltines, to get that gross allergy taste out of my mo

Welcome to Day 2 of 13 while I try to get my fitness goals together.  We're early in to this, so I'll probably do okay and then get derailed mid-week by some York Girls or something.  We shall see... No one invited you two!  Get out of here!  Shoo! Breakfast was some surprise pseudoephedrine when I woke up with a runny nose, stuffy head, and the feeling that I had just swallowed some broken glass.  I also had hot green tea with honey and a bunch of water.  I thought about eating breakfast, but really wasn't in the mood for food. Breakfast of champions? Lunch was chicken soup, crackers, and a Greek yogurt.  (I had originally planned on having chicken/cauliflower/salad leftovers from last night, but when you're sick, you eat soup.) Snack  was an orange and hot green tea. Dinner was another recipe from Skinnytaste Fast & Slow, specifically Beef Ragu with Papparadelle.  I also had a salad with tomato, cucumber, peppers, and carrots.  And 2 caramels

Oh Lordy, guys.  The Shame Squad needs to come back for 13 days between now and the next trip I take.  Work has been stressful, and I've been running my sister's campaign for local office, and I ate and drank some things in NOLA.  (Although I did not do as bad there as one may think, because I lurve raw oysters and hate fruity drinks.  I did have a Hurricane so I could say I had one and...more for you guys.) I'm behind on everything, and that includes my fitness goals, and it's getting to the point where I'm starting to feel like Britney Spears in 2007.  So I need to re-prioritize healthy routines.  Mostly due to work my fitness goals went from: Get 8 hours of sleep . Exercise 3x a week. Do yoga 1x per week. Eat lean protein , whole grains , fruits and vegetables . To this: Sleep?   At least lie in bed and calculate that "if I fell asleep right now  I would get 4 hours and 17 minutes of sleep.  Okay, now 4 hours and 16 minutes."
