Breakfast was pumpernickel bread with cream cheese and lox, plus a latte. I actually left my breakfast on the kitchen counter and had to go back for it. Normally, I would have just left it and gotten something on the way to work, but I could only imagine how high two kitties would have smeared cream cheese on the wall. I assume they would eat the lox.
Exercise was a foam roller workout with Elephant Trainer. Doesn't that sound nice and relaxing? Well, it isn't. You try doing push ups and planks and other nonsense while trying not to fall over and break your face...There might have been a giggling fit or two. After that, I biked for 15 minutes.
Lunch was leftover Serbian Ground Beef and Veggie Bake, which Chris did not like when we had it last night but I thought was good. More leftovers for me! It's kind of like and Eastern European shepherd's pie. Mmmmmm....shepherd's pie. I also had a side salad.
Snack was a tiny piece of dark chocolate, a couple of tiny pretzels, and Lithuanian tea.
Dinner was half of a Lucia Burger (stuffed with mozzarella and roasted red peppers) and half of a side of roasted potato wedges, plus a big ol' bowl of veggies. Dessert was some delicious Fortnum & Mason tea, and cranberry biscuits (aka cookies).
Finally, in honor of the DAPL not going through cultural sites and lakes, today we're going to have a princess of a different variety. Even if the Native Americans at Standing Rock are Sioux, and Pocahontas was Powhatan.
Finally you should also watch Melissa McCarthy lip sync "Colors of the Wind" on Jimmy Fallon because IT IS HILARIOUS.

That's cool, I'll just fall face-first in to this mat. |

On the "The opposite of love isn't hate, it's indifference" front, here's what I've been up to:
- Subscribing to The Washington Post, because free speech and Sunday coupons are a must!
- Coordinating the Angel Tree for work--props to two of my ladies for cutting out all of the angel tags. We put the tree up at 3 p.m. on Friday, and when I left today, there were only six tags left. :) The tree will benefit the Transitional Housing Barn. I'm buying for two 10 year old girls, and this Mighty Girl Gift Guide came in super handy. My little ladies will be getting a sewing kit for beginners, a magnetic tile mini tile craft kit, non-toxic art supplies and gift cards to Tar-jay.
- Collecting all the Toys for SERVE. Our team filled up half of a giant printer box, and then we sponsored a toy drive through the Chamber of Commerce, so we ended up with two huge overflowing boxes. Here's the press release.
- Those last two things are especially important to me, because as I've mentioned before, while the proposed tax plan has benefits, the detriment to non-itemizing single parents, particularly those with multiple dependents, is significant. Allowing these single moms and dads (or in many cases, grandmoms or granddads) to put their resources towards rent, utilities, transportation to work, etc. will become critical over the next several years.
Not gonna lie, I want this for myself. |
