Day 76

I forgot my breakfast yesterday, but magically, a bag of tangerines showed up on my desk!  Thanks, Tangerine Jesus!  (Okay, the thanks really to my coworker who dropped them off for my office mate and me.)  I also had three cups of water.  I did not sit by Jason in the morning's meeting, so I couldn't steal his Special K bar even if I wanted to.  Sad.  Total: 0 points

Two peeps from my project and I escaped for lunch to Coastal Flats.  I distracted myself from the bread by having a salad (no croutons, add goat cheese, dressing on the side).  Then I had grilled shrimp, roasted tomatoes with more goat cheese, and I swapped out the orzo for corn and green beans.  Also, three cups of water with lemon.  Total: 10 points
Quick!  Divert to salad!
Snacky time was two pretzel rods, thirteen chocolate chips, and a cup of mixed fruit found in the break room.  And a cups] of water.  Total: 2 points

Dinner was the other three and a half ounces of dragon sushi rolls, and a salad with tomatoes, lettuce, and two teaspoons of olive oil.  Two more cups of water.  Then a cup of milk and a cup of rice chex.  You know, that classic combo of sushi and cereal. Total: 11 points

Freezer Meal #2 - Maple Pork Tenderloin with Apples

This is the second part of my foray in to freezer meals - the first part can be found here  for Cheesy Shells and Italian Sausage. Today we're making a pork and apples recipe adapted from The Pampered Chef.  I love this one--it's so easy to assemble in advance, most of the ingredients you likely already have, and it couldn't be easier to fix the day you want to eat it (dump stuff in pan, bake). So yummy.  And pretty. Maple Pork Tenderloin with Apples For this you'll need the ingredients below.  You probably have the oil, vinegar, garlic, brown sugar, mustard, and bags in your pantry!  You can also easily divide this recipe if you usually only cook for 2-3 people at a time (that's what I do when I make it). 2 pork tenderloins , about 2 pounds total - they can be expensive, so pick these up on sale 3 apples - I prefer honeycrisp but use what you like, or take one of these suggestions 1 small red onion 1/4 cup canola oil 1 clove garlic , press...

The Olympic Outfits of Johnny Weir, rated

The Verner girls are back, 4 years later, to discuss the outfits of Johnny Weir. (And the crowd goes wild!) Since writing about his Sochi wardrobe , it has been one of my top posts of all time. Other highly rated posts include a post about the palaces of Hawaii , how to pack for vacation , a Pampered Chef cheesy pasta recipe , and Meghan Markle tiara predictions . You guys are an eclectic group. Speaking of eclectic, let's talk about Johnny's overall look. First, let me start off by saying that yes, I know that Johnny looks like a cross between the Hunger Games, Pee Wee Herman, and Colonel Sanders. So obviously, I've seen that one post on Twitter about it. And that meme on Facebook. And that thread on Reddit. Johnny is not one for subtlety. One year he said he was going to go with a "not-so-literal" interpretation for his Kentucky Derby hat, and he then literally wore a crown of roses and a mint julep on his head. Basically, Johnny would not know subtl...

Meghan Markle Tiara Predictions

First thing's first: will I be as, um, "devoted" to Meghan as Kate?  Nope.  That would be like having two favorite football teams--it's just crazy.  But!  That won't stop me from a little bit of fun speculation today.  So, what tiara is Meghan likely to wear when she marries Harry?  We have a few clues to help steer us in the right direction: First, in terms of tiaras, it is important to understand that royal houses "counts the centuries, not the carats" in terms of tiara importance.  For comparison's sake: Kate's tiara dates from 1936 and was first worn by the Queen Mother--a relative commoner who became a Duchess who became a Queen Consort.  Expertly chosen, as this is the same path Kate will take, if all goes to plan. Halo Scroll as worn by the Queen Mum, Princess Anne, and K-Middy. The Queen wore it too early on. Fun fact: we haven't seen her wear it again because it's currently traveling in a Cartier exhibit. Princ...
