Breakfast was a banana pudding shake.  It was delicious.  Delicious in a "this is a dessert" type of way.  I've never been a sweets-for-breakfast gal (especially since I threw up pancakes one time during a bout of food poisoning--TMI), and this was good but just a little too much.

At any rate, if you'd like to make your own, it consists of:
  • Ice cubes (12-15)
  • Banana (or you can be clever and freeze banana slices and use less ice)
  • Vanilla Protein Powder (I prefer soy and use a half scoop)
  • Milk (skim, 1%, almond, whatever)
  • Light Instant Banana Pudding, about a tablespoon
Snack was as many mini Triscuits as I could shove into my face and still be professional on a recruiting call.

Then my boss canceled a meeting, so I went to the gym and did 30 minutes on the exercise bike.  And checked work e-mails.  Multi-tasking!  That's 7.5 miles, 200 calories, and a few HR issues solved.

I didn't take a picture of lunch because it was a business lunch and Mega Boss was there.  That would be weird, right?  But here's a picture I stole off the internet.  We went to Katerina's in Manassas, and I had the chicken souvlaki and a side salad (and NO DELICIOUS POTATOES), plus 2 pieces of pita.

And then I went to Medical Massage Specialities for a sports massage because I had a gift certificate, and because my "special" hip was feeling all sorts of jacked up (technical term).  It was enjoyable, and the therapist (Brian) did Assisted Stretching and told me I was flexible, until he got to my hamstrings.  That's where I keep allllllll of the tension.  I hide it in my hamstrings.  This is my third massage there, and I dig it--first, because the prices are reasonable, and you get 60 minutes, not 50, plus they always go over.  Second, because they always run specials (just check out their Facebook and/or get their e-mails) so it's even more affordable.  And third, because their relaxation area is actually relaxing and not stuffy and has snacks.  See?

Anyway, if you want to try it out, here's a coupon from their latest e-mail.  And tell them I sent you, because I get...something?  I don't remember what.  I'm not telling you for the swag, I'm telling you because they're an awesome local business.  And also, you need a massage.  Here, have 20% off.  Or buy 3 gift cards (heeeey Mother's Day) and get one for yourself.  Or just use them all on yourself.  I'm not here to judge you.

Then, it was Cinco de Mayo (go Mexico--beat the French!) so Chris and I made a little feasty feast.  This was my cheat meal for the week, not because it was unhealthy, but because there was so much of it.  We had: turkey tacos, chips & salsa, guacamole, jicama and mango with tajin seasoning, refried beans, and tequila that we bought in Mexico when we'd had too much tequila.  It was good and I'd do it again!

In Kate news, she and Wills made a run for it, heading to their country home at Sandringham, where they'll be left alone.  Not pictured: Prince or Princess McCheeks.  Wills drove.  Kate wore a new $198 scarf, which is what one does upon giving birth, apparently.

Hope you had a good day, my people!  Tomorrow I'll probably discuss one of my Repli-Kate outfits or what Beyonce wore to the Met Gala (spoiler alert: ALL the sequins).

Freezer Meal #2 - Maple Pork Tenderloin with Apples

This is the second part of my foray in to freezer meals - the first part can be found here  for Cheesy Shells and Italian Sausage. Today we're making a pork and apples recipe adapted from The Pampered Chef.  I love this one--it's so easy to assemble in advance, most of the ingredients you likely already have, and it couldn't be easier to fix the day you want to eat it (dump stuff in pan, bake). So yummy.  And pretty. Maple Pork Tenderloin with Apples For this you'll need the ingredients below.  You probably have the oil, vinegar, garlic, brown sugar, mustard, and bags in your pantry!  You can also easily divide this recipe if you usually only cook for 2-3 people at a time (that's what I do when I make it). 2 pork tenderloins , about 2 pounds total - they can be expensive, so pick these up on sale 3 apples - I prefer honeycrisp but use what you like, or take one of these suggestions 1 small red onion 1/4 cup canola oil 1 clove garlic , press...

The Oscars, powered by onion dip

My hilarious friends Kelley and Christopher invited me over for the Oscars so that we could judge red carpet looks. Kelley is one of the few people in my life that makes me laugh without fail, and she blogs her adventures--and misadventures--over at The Lundscape .   Kelley warned me prior to coming over that they were more "Shame" than "Squad," so that's how we ended up with three types of dip.  This was fortuitous, though, because the dips sustained us through grueling hours of pausing and rewinding live coverage, swapping drink recipes  we learned on vacation, and discussing what award shows would be like on Middle Earth. Let's dive right in, shall we? Kelley : Janelle Monae's dress was sponsored by the Audubon society. Christopher:  This looks like "Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen meets Marie Antoinette." (It is revealed that the designer is Elie Saab.) Alyssa:  I'm pretty sure Elie Saab went on a coke bender. Kelley: ...

Freezer Meal #1 - Cheesy Shells and Italian Sausage

A month ago, a coworker invited me to a Pampered Chef Freezer Meal party.  I will admit that I went in to it with a little bit of an attitude: " I'm going to have to buy all their seasonings and the meals will be full of processed goo and not taste great ."   Four hours of fun, three glasses of wine, $170 for groceries and seasonings, and 14 meals later, I was happily proved (mostly) wrong.  Here's how my thinking changed: 1) I'm going to have to buy all of their seasonings - well, yes.  This is a service they're offering after all, and I felt like the $70 was more than worth the ideas and ingredients I got, plus not having to do the dishes and getting a free dinner was a bonus!  I discovered a few ingredients I would have normally given the "side eye" to, like cherry balsamic vinegar, which costs the same at the grocery store as it does from The Pampered Chef. 2) The meals will be processed - I was expecting lots of Cream-of-Something-Soup r...
