National Siblings Day

Since yesterday was National Siblings Day, I thought I'd give a shout out to my fabulous sister Amy. Here are some of the fun things we've done over the years:

Remember that one time we went to Wimbledon and you were really confused, and I kept putting on lip gloss?

But then we just drank a lot of champagne and it turned out to be really awesome? Good times.

One of my favorite games we used to play is "run away from the paparazzi." You were always so much better than I was. By the way, did you like that book I gave you?

Sorry I made you carry my giant train around at my wedding. That's what you get for showing me up with your fabulous butt.

And I'm also sorry about that time that I "borrowed" your red dress without telling you, and then dyed it blue. I just really admired your style and wanted to be like you.

Just don't tell Mom that we both lost a bet and had to wear her ugly fur hat in public.

Thanks for going to weddings with me when my boyfriend couldn't come. Love your hat, but that green coat is kind of questionable.

I'm glad we share a mutual love of long walks on the beach and getting caught in the rain.

Damn, we're hot. Let's frame this one and give it to grandma. Those matching bikinis were a great idea.

Freezer Meal #2 - Maple Pork Tenderloin with Apples

Today we're making a pork and apples recipe adapted from The Pampered Chef. I love this one--it's so easy to assemble in advance, most of the ingredients you likely already have, and it couldn't be easier to fix the day you want to eat it (dump stuff in pan, bake). So yummy. Freezer Meal #1 - Cheesy Shells and Italian Sausage

A month ago, a coworker invited me to a Pampered Chef Freezer Meal party. I will admit that I went in to it with a little bit of an attitude: " I'm going to have to buy all their seasonings and the meals will be full of processed goo and not taste great ." Four hours of fun, three glasses of wine, $170 for groceries and seasonings, and 14 meals later, I was happily proved (mostly) wrong. Here's how my thinking changed: 1) I'm going to have to buy all of their seasonings - well, yes. This is a service they're offering after all, and I felt like the $70 was more than worth the ideas and ingredients I got, plus not having to do the dishes and getting a free dinner was a bonus! I've shared this advice over the years, most recently when a number of friends & colleagues found themselves hunting for jobs.
